Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP Books

If you want to be an expert in something one of the first things you need to do is to start a library devoted to the subject.  Just like in school, you will need some reference materials and text books.  Listed below are my suggestions for books on Neuro Linguistic Programming.  These are some of the most effective and useful NLP books I have found over the past 25 years.

The Unfair Advantage: Sell with NLP!
This book is probably the best place to start if you are new to Neuro Linguistic Programming and what to get a good introduction to NLP techniques and methods.  I wish I had known about this book when I first started learning about NLP because it would have made it a lot easier to learn and I could have used and applied it effectively in the field much faster than I did. I highly recommend this for the beginning and intermediate NLP student.
NLP: The New Technology of Achievement
This is an essential part of every NLP practitioner's library.  Put out by the NLP Comprehensive, this covers how to apply NLP to your own brain and behavior in order to improve your own performance.  Beginner's should absolutely have this book as should more advanced practitioners.  It does have a chapter on building "Powerful Persuasion Strategies" as well as chapters on eliminating fears and building self-confidence.
Get the Life You Want: The Secrets to Quick and Lasting Life Change with Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Richard Bandler was one of the founders of NLP and for years was the primary, or at least most notorious, developer of Neuro Linguistic Programming. This is an excellent book in all respects and should be read and used by anyone interested in learning NLP, learning persuasion and in learning how to improve their life. This book is chock full of NLP techniques you can use on yourself to eliminate fears and change various elements of your life. Anyone interested in Neuro Linguistic Programming really should read Bandler in order to get a taste of the spirit of NLP.  You will be a better NLP practitioner because of it.
Unlimited Power : The New Science Of Personal Achievement
Nobody did more to popularize NLP and make money off of the technology than Tony Robbins. Part trainer, part coach and part showman, Tony Robbins took NLP, put his own twist on it, (like renaming it the Neuro Associative Conditioning System or NACS) and barnstormed around the country promoting his "Fear into Power" Seminars that included fire-walking across hot coals. Say what you want but the man knew his stuff. He also wrote a pretty good book about it. This was the first book I read on NLP that really explained it in a simple and understandable manner. Tony also throws in a lot of motivational material to go along with the NLP stuff making this an excellent read. Highly recommended.

If you search for them you'll find many more books on NLP, a lot of which focus on using the technology in specific areas such as sales, therapy, education and self-development.  Many of these books are excellent.  Still, if you can master the material in the books above you will be able to use NLP in your daily interactions better than 90% of the people out there.  Master these books before you move onto the more advanced and esoteric stuff.
